Aviation medicals

Dr Jacques de Groot is a CASA Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME) after successfully completing the Australian Certificate of Civil Aviation Medicine (ACCAM) at Monash University in Melbourne.

Dr de Groot is certified to perform the following for Commercial and Private Pilots and Air Traffic Controllers:

  • Initial and renewal aviation medicals.

The aviation medical

Aviation Medicals at Ranges Medical involve a review of the examinee’s medical history and a physical examination. This begins with an appointment with one of our Practice Nurses followed by an appointment with Dr Jacques de Groot.

Additional tests may be required depending the examinee’s age and CASA requirements. These tests may include; Blood tests (eg. lipids and blood sugar), ECG, Spirometry (lung function test) and Audiometry (hearing test).

We have the facilities to perform some of these tests in-house at Ranges Medical. Other examinations can also be organised by referral to external providers, such as local audiology services and CASA designated Ophthalmologist or Optometrist. Requests for blood tests can be organised during a separate private appointment, prior to the aviation medical appointment, so the results will be available at the time of the examination.
